Beware of listening to media buying advice from people who claim they ran xx millions of dollars and had the job title of President, VP, SVP, even Director of Marketing.
Most of these folks can string together a good story about WHAT they did. But unfortunately, most of them haven't a clue about HOW they actually did what they did - because they didn't do it!
It was their "team" did it. And usually, 95% of the results from that "team" were produced by one person.
I was that one person.
And I can tell you, most of my directives from the "higher ups" I've worked with over the years were simple.
"Spend x amount of money, make x amount of dollars. Talk to you next month."
Then, when I produced the result, now all of sudden they cared about the how.
"Please make a report and do a presentation on Monday."
Next thing you know, they're flying out to a marketing event... as the featured speaker... with billings of "Facebook Ads Expert" and "The Guy Who Generated Millions of Dollars For X Company."
The more accurate title would be the guy who HIRED the guy...
Lesson: When you come across people with these "credentials", you really have to listen with discernment and take what they say with a grain of salt... IF you are wanting to successfully run Facebook Ads yourself.
Because it's like playing the telephone game when you were a kid. At the end, what you're getting is an nth degree account of the actual story.
Better you hear it from the horse's mouth.
Don't get me wrong - you can learn a lot from these "higher up" types.
You can learn a lot about speaking, communication, sales.
You can learn leadership.
You can learn how to hire and manage talent.
But you're not going to learn how to run Facebook Ads.
